Silver Clay beginners' class

Looking for a way to make your own silver jewellery without a jeweller apprenticeship? You found the answer to this question.

From the idea to the wearable final piece in 4 hours. In this class you learn how to turn a few grams of silver clay into a piece of jewellery that will treasure forever as a memory of your beginnings with metal clay.

What is silver clay?

Silver clay is a clay like material, that consists of small silver particles, water and an organic binder. When wet it can easily be formed, moulded, textured and cut.

When the water has evaporated, you can file and drill it and join more complex pieces.

In the next step, you have to fire your piece at a temperature of at least 650°C to obtain real silver jewellery.

The workshop

Following a short introduction into metal clay and some basics about making a piece of jewellery, we are switching to the fun part of the workshop: working with the silver clay!

You start with a design in your mind (shape and texture) for your piece of jewellery. Let inspire you by our examples.

Then we start bringing your idea to reality. Our experienced instructor will ensure you will work the correct way. After drying and some last filing we are going to fire your piece.

Silver clay can even be fired with a handheld torch. We are demonstrating this and you can try it yourself. The other pieces will be fired in an electric kiln.

After firing, your piece just needs some last polishing. You’re going to leave the class workshop with a lot of new skills and your first unique beautiful siver piece of jewellery.
